The Tamil Nadu Govern ment Non - Minority Aided School Teachers ' Federa tion submitted a represen tation to the State Educa tion department seeking exemption from writing the Teachers Eligibility Test ( TET ) exam .
Speaking to The Hindu , K . Sivagnanam , one of its coordinators , said that most teachers in non - mi nority institutions who had been in service before the TET exam had been fight ing cases for the past eight years . A 10 - day refresher course could be conducted instead of the exam .
" Those in minority insti tutions who had been working for many years be fore the implementation of TET have been exempted and have only attended a refresher course . The same rules must be applied for us too , " he said . Mr . Sivagnanam added that those in non - minority aided schools did not get earned leave and other in centives .
